I cared for my sister who had breast cancer for five years. It metastasized throughout her body. I cared for my dad, who had pancreatic cancer, and lived just one month after his diagnosis. Being an advocate and gently attending to their needs made me proud. It was amazing to me how being positive and remembering all the good years made such a difference in my thinking.

My mother had cancer in various parts of her body. I don't have a lot of specific information because I was very young when she first became ill. I'm better qualified to speak to what it was like to grow up in that environment.

My father started his cancer journey when I was twenty five. He was first diagnosed with lung cancer and then metastasized to his brain. My mother did not drive so I took him to his radiation therapies and doctor appointments during his eighteen month cancer journey. This journey was my first experience dealing with cancer. My sister also had ovarian cancer that she battles for seven years. She has lots of medical challenges that started in her forties when she was diagnosed type two diabetes.
