In less than 6 months I will be 73 and compared to others of my age, I'm doing fairly well. Let's stop and think about that for a moment. Why am I doing so well while others are not. Sure lack of mobility can be due to illness or hereditary or accidents but when I think of what I've been doing for the last 25 years to be as healthy as I am I know this has worked for me.
It also makes me stop a moment and think of my Grandma who lived to be 103. Up until she reached 100 you would find her walking whenever she could. Along Market Street, up and down Clement Street, there she would be walking and rather briskly I might add.
My best friend and I ( also almost 73) started working out at the gym about 23 or so years ago. At least 5 days a week we've been doing weight training, cardio and walking and I have to say that I think it's helped the two of us to thrive as we are.
What I'm trying to say here is all of you just MOVE. Walk, dance, skip. Do weight training, ride a bike - walk, dance or skip but just MOVE.
I mentioned in an earlier post that I had two interesting health concerns. One was the discovery and operation to fix a CSF leak. The other was when I fell and shattered my knee cap. In both instances it was surprising how quickly i was on the road to recovery.
If you're stuck, if you need a guide as to what exercises to do, let me know. I can tell you that my other best friend gifted me a TRX suspension system and since the pandemic I've quit the gym and do the TRX and it's a game changer.
Do not be afraid to move. If you can't "workout" stand up, sit down and stand up again. THat'll get your juices flowing. It doesn't matter what you do , it only matters that you do something AND that you are consistent. Consistency is the key.
Reach out if I can be of any help.........
