In 23 weeks, more than 58 million Americans have filed for unemployment insurance — that’s more than the number of claims filed during the Great Recession. Additionally, a study by the Economic Policy Institute on August 28, 2020, estimates that 12 million Americans have lost their employer-based health insurance since February.
