The Impact of the Coronavirus on Food Insecurity in 2020

Caregiving is a broad topic, and we believe it extends to helping Americans have enough to eat. The Feeding America network is the nation’s largest domestic hunger-relief organization. Individuals who are at the highest risk for serious illness associated with COVID-19 – including seniors, people with chronic illness, and people of color – are, in many cases, the same individuals who are being most adversely affected by the economic recession that began in the spring of 2020.Projections are that 1-in-6 people (over 50 million total) will experience food insecurity in 2020, including 1-in-4 children (approximately 17 million total).
